In accordance with relevant laws, such as the Spam Act of 2003, we may also use Personal Information (such as a person's email address or phone number) to send commercial electronic messages ("CEMs") about the services of the City of Vancouver. By using the opt-out feature offered in each marketing communication (for instance, by selecting "unsubscribe" at the bottom of an email), you can choose not to receive CEMs.

Even if we do not keep such Personal Information, it must still be sent to our servers and kept there for a sufficient amount of time to be processed.

2. Cookies and similar technologies

In connection with your use of the Services, we and third parties with whom we collaborate may make use of cookies, script, tag, web beacon, local shared objects like Flash and HTML5, advertising IDs, and alike technology (collectively, "Cookies"). • Notifications: Intended to permit or stop notifications of Personal Information or choices that we believe may enhance your use of the Services. For example, we might use a Cookie to prevent us from displaying certain alerts if you have already seen them.

  • Advertising: Intended to increase the value of advertising for both users and marketers. For instance, we may use cookies to inform us whether you recently interacted with an ad.

Although you can set some Cookie preferences through your device or browser settings, doing so might make the Services less effective. Depending on your device and browser, there may be a different way to disable cookies; however, you can usually find this option in your browser's or device's security settings. Please be aware that altering these options will not stop specific advertisements from being shown to you.
